Administrative Assistant, Asheville Center


Location: Asheville, North Carolina

The Lenoir-Rhyne University Asheville Center seeks applications for a full-time administrative assistant. Appointment begins August 2025 based on availability.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

We invite applications for a full-time position to begin on or after August 1, 2025. The position will provide administrative support for the Lenoir-Rhyne Asheville Center and the School of Counseling and Human Services. Experience with business office operations, event planning, customer service and social media preferred. Previous experience in academic and/or health and human services settings is preferred.  

Asheville Center Duties

  • Manages day-to-day office operations and general administrative functions.  
  • Provides facility oversight, including supply management, inventory and purchasing.  
  • Serves as the primary point of contact and welcoming presence at the Asheville Center.  
  • Coordinates with Admission to schedule and support campus tours and prospective student visits.  
  • Coordinates with Hickory staff on university events such as commencement.  
  • Supports classroom technology and troubleshooting as needed.  
  • Assists with coordination of community outreach and engagement efforts.  

School of Counseling and Human Services Duties  

  • Clerical support for the School of Counseling and Human Services.
  • Plans, coordinates  and executes logistics for the School of Counseling and Human Services events and projects.
  • Coordinates, attends and prepares materials for and/or records minutes at meetings and special events.  
  • Onboarding of part-time faculty.  
  • Manage travel and purchase reimbursements.  
  • Assist students in navigating institutional resources (The Graduate School, student support, BEAR Central, Library, etc.).  

Other  

  • Work with the Office of Academic Affairs as requested.  
  • Other duties as assigned by the school chair.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism and diplomacy and work with individuals at all levels of the university  
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with heightened attention to detail.  
  • Analytical, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.  
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.  

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or five years of experience as an administrative assistant preferred
  • A minimum of three years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities listed preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.  
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.  
  • Ability to travel with students, faculty and staff throughout campus.

Work Schedule

  • 40 hours per week
  • Subject to change based on university need, scheduled courses and university growth
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand
