    Winter Weather Advisory
    Western North Carolina is under a Winter Storm Watch beginning Saturday night into most of Sunday, and the Columbia, South Carolina, region also is predicted to receive a wintry mix. Students, faculty and staff on all three campuses should closely monitor weather forecasts and LR email for any updates. In advance, please log into RAVE, LR’s emergency alert system, to add or update your cell phone so you can receive text alerts. You can log into RAVE using your LR email address and password.

Founded in 1891, Lenoir-Rhyne University is a co-educational, private liberal arts institution that serves 2,686+ students and offers 50+ undergraduate degree programs and 20+ graduate degree programs. 

Our main campus is in Hickory, North Carolina, where both undergraduate and graduate degrees are offered.

The university also offers graduate degree programs on our campuses in Asheville, North Carolina, and Columbia, South Carolina. Our seminary, Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, is also in Columbia. LR is affiliated with the North Carolina Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and welcomes students from all religious denominations.

News & Events

The Lenoir-Rhyne University Board of Trustees has renewed the contract of Dr. Fred Whitt, LR president, for a six-year term. The board unanimously approved the new contract at its meeting in November; the contract became effective Jan. 1 and will continue through Jan. 1, 2028.
