Security Officer


Department: Administration & Finance
Wage Class: Hourly, Part-Time
Reports To: Director of Security Services
Location: Hickory, NC

Job Duties

  • Provide for the safety of all persons on campus property.
  • Ensure security of campus buildings.
  • Enforce campus rules, regulations and policies as set forth by university administration.
  • Properly investigate and report all crimes and incidents.
  • Maintain liaison with area law enforcement.
  • Participate in providing crime prevention programs to the students, faculty and staff.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs or more.
  • Ability to walk long distances across campus.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High school diploma.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
  • No criminal record.
  • Law enforcement experience or BLET a plus, but not required.

Reporting

  • Reports to the Director of Public Safety.
  • Hourly, non-exempt, part-time position.
