Assistant Professor of Counseling, Center of Graduate Studies

The Lenoir-Rhyne University College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics seeks applications for a full-time, assistant professor appointment (or as determined by Provost). Appointment begins August 2025.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
The College of Education and Human Services seeks applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position at the Center for Graduate Studies of Asheville at Lenoir-Rhyne University. This nine-month appointment is in the School of Counseling and Human Services and supports the university’s CACREP-accredited Master of Arts in Counseling program.
The position is based in Asheville and begins in Fall 2025.
This role includes teaching graduate courses with a 21-credit-hour load across the fall and spring semesters, with opportunities for summer teaching at additional pay. In addition to teaching, the position requires service to the university, scholarly and professional engagement, and active campus citizenship.
Preferred qualifications include:
A terminal degree in counseling and/or counselor education from a CACREP-accredited institution is required. Preferred candidates will possess the credentials and experience to teach courses in clinical mental health counseling and/or school counseling. Evidence of exemplary college teaching experience is strongly preferred. Candidates must be familiar with and willing to develop and deliver courses through online and other non-traditional pedagogies.
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- A commitment to teaching excellence and student mentorship
- A record of scholarly/professional engagement
- The ability to collaborate with LR’s graduate admissions office to maintain enrollment
- Capacity to sustain strong partnerships with clinical placement sites
