ABOUT THE MASTER OF ARTS IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE LEADERSHIP

Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Master of Arts in Criminal Justice Leadership program is intended for individuals with undergraduate degrees in criminal justice, political science, psychology, or sociology who are looking to advance their careers.

Through the program, students will develop the leadership skills needed to manage ethical dilemmas that arise within the field of criminal justice. Students will also be provided an opportunity to explore the numerous types of leadership and management positions that exist within criminal justice agencies.

LR’s Criminal Justice Leadership graduate program aims to develop leaders who:
  • Have the skills to create, analyze, and critique criminal justice policy.
  • Can act as effective administrators within the field of criminal justice.
  • Have the ability to lead an organization through change.
  • Can effectively implement conflict resolution policies within a given agency.

CURRICULAR OPTIONS

The Criminal Justice master’s degree program is offered by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and requires 39 credit hours for completion. Curriculum includes 24 hours of core leadership classes in the areas of business, education, and leadership. An additional 15 hours of course work covers specialized topics in criminal justice such as criminology, criminal justice administration and management, and criminal justice analytics and policy. Students will also be required to complete an internship experience within the criminal justice field.
