Celebration of Academic Excellence

At the end of every academic year, Lenoir-Rhyne University sponsors a celebration of Academic Excellence to recognize students who excel in their academic programs of study.

Our celebration occurs in April and includes a keynote from the University’s faculty fellow, setting up the Symposium on University Research and Creative Expression (SOURCE). The celebration culminates with the Honors Convocation and the Academic Awards Ceremony. Between the two events various colleges, schools, and organizations host:

  • Honors Society Inductions
  • Academic Presentations and Debates
  • Poster Presentations
  • Other Academic events

Keynote from Faculty Fellow

The 2017-2018 Lenoir-Rhyne University faculty fellow is Dr. Jennifer Heller. Her keynote is titled "Mirror, Mirror, in the Classroom: The Art of Self-Reflection."

Symposium on University Research and Creative Expression (SOURCE)

Since 2009, the campus cancels classes for the day to provide space for undergraduate and graduate students to present their research projects and creative works to the campus community. The event also hosts a keynote speaker to discuss the merits of undergraduate research, especially how this facilitates relationships between faculty and students.

Graduate Research and Creative Expression (GRACE)

Since 2017, the Asheville campus provides a day for graduate students to showcase their cutting-edge research and creative works, as well as discuss projects across disciplines. The event is free and open to the public, with refreshments available.
