Toni Oakes is a professor of occupational therapy and chair of the School of Occupational Therapy.

As an occupational therapy practitioner, she held positions at hospitals, rehabilitation centers, United Way agencies, private practices and school systems in Virginia, South Carolina and North Carolina.

Oakes enjoys being part of the Inquiry Guided Learning Certification team through the Center for Teaching and Learning. She focuses on using new teaching methods and evidence-based practice into the curriculum to instill graduates with compassion and competence.
