Kim Pennington

Kim Pennington is director of the Solmaz Institute offering clinical, outreach and internship opportunities for students of the School of Health, Exercise and Sports Science. As a faculty member, she also serves as a community preceptor.

Pennington joined Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2013 and has more than 25 years of experience as a registered dietitian. She worked in private practice, clinical, public health and consulting. Her focus is on helping young people feel positive about food and fitness. She has a particular interest in the role of nutrition in performance for student-athletes.

She received a certificate of training in childhood and adolescent weight management from the Commission on Dietetic Registration and advanced continuing education training in child and adolescent obesity from the University of California in San Francisco. She completed her dietetic internship at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

She is a longstanding member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is active in local and state organizations.
