Part-Time Accessibility Services Coordinator
Location: Hickory, North Carolina
Position Summary
The Accessibility Services Coordinator is a part-time, part-time, 29-hour-per-week role that provides administrative, testing and operational support for the Office of Accessibility Services. Reporting to the Director of Accessibility Services, this position coordinates accommodated testing services, supports accessibility services operations and maintains data collection and reporting processes to ensure equal access for students with disabilities. The Coordinator supports the Director of Accessibility Services in maintaining compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and university policies while fostering an accessible and inclusive campus environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary office contact by answering phones, responding to emails, greeting students, faculty, staff and visitors and directing inquiries appropriately.
- Coordinate and schedule accommodated examinations and maintain testing schedules for students approved for testing accommodations.
- Provide primary coordination and coverage for the LR University Testing Center, including scheduling, proctoring examinations, monitoring testing environments, maintaining academic integrity and ensuring approved accommodations are implemented appropriately.
- Prepare, distribute, receive and secure testing materials in accordance with university procedures and confidentiality requirements.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records, testing documentation, accommodation files and departmental databases in compliance with FERPA, ADA and Section 504 requirements.
- Coordinate data collection, assessment and reporting related to accommodation utilization, testing center operations, student engagement, retention initiatives and accreditation requirements.
- Assist the director in supporting and coordinating Accessibility Services Graduate Assistants and work-study students, including scheduling, training, task assignments and operational oversight of office and testing center functions.
- Provide operational support for student intake processes, accommodation implementation, communication with faculty and coordination of approved services.
- Assist with planning and implementation of disability awareness programs, educational outreach events, orientation activities and campus accessibility initiatives.
- Coordinate office logistics, including appointment scheduling, calendar management, supply inventory, equipment maintenance and document preparation.
- Support collaboration with campus offices, including Academic Affairs, Student Support & Outreach, Residence Life, Counseling Services, Food Services and the Registrar's Office, regarding accommodation logistics and service delivery.
- Assist in maintaining departmental procedures, forms and resources to support compliance and efficient service delivery.
- Serve as an advocate for accessibility, inclusion and student success by promoting a welcoming and supportive environment for students with disabilities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Accessibility Services to support departmental operations and university initiatives.
Required Skills
- Associate degree in a relevant field.
- Strong organizational, communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, database systems and scheduling software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with attention to detail.
- Ability to establish positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff and external stakeholders.
- Understanding of disability-related issues and commitment to accessibility, diversity, equity and inclusion.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience working in a professional office setting.
- Familiarity with ADA, Section 504, FERPA and accessibility best practices.
- Experience with data collection, assessment and reporting.

- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
