Faculty Position: Teaching Assistant Professor or Teaching Associate Professor
College of Business and Economics
Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Charles M. Snipes College of Business and Economics seeks applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor or Teaching Associate Professor in Hospitality and Tourism Management beginning in August 2026. A tenure-track position is a possibility with the appropriate experience and qualifications determined by the provost. Promotion is per the Lenoir-Rhyne University Faculty Handbook.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Minimum of an earned master’s degree in a related business field from an accredited institution, or equivalent, with a terminal degree preferred.
- Evidence of teaching excellence.
- Demonstrated commitment to Lenoir-Rhyne's Teacher-Scholar Model.
- Demonstrated initiative in professional development.
- Ability to engage with the campus community and contribute to university service and governance.
Teaching responsibilities include 24 credit hours (4/4 course load) across the academic year, with professional development and service expected. Teaching responsibilities may include coursework for both undergraduate and graduate students. Although scholarship is not required for the position, it is an additional activity that can chosen as part of their professional pathway requirement. Successful candidates will display a commitment and capacity for teaching excellence, student mentorship, and collaborative work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Qualifications and interest in developing and teaching courses in hospitality and tourism management.
- Ability to teach in person at the Hickory campus.
- Demonstrated program development experience, including one or more of the following:
- Curriculum design and revision
- Accreditation support or exposure (e.g., ACBSP, SACSCOC, discipline-specific)
- Assessment leadership and learning outcomes management
- Program coordination
- Evidence of sustained instructional excellence and institutional service
- Familiarity with or interest in various instructional modalities, including in-person, hybrid, and asynchronous formats.
- Demonstrated excellence or interest in academic and professional advising of majors/minors.
- Commitment to fostering student opportunities in high-impact practices, including project-based learning, service-learning, industry-based learning, capstone experiences, and student portfolios.
Assistant or Associate rank will be determined by professional experience above the minimum required, teaching experience, current rank (if any), or some combination of these.

The Charles M. Snipes College of Business & Economics provides contemporary knowledge and practical skills that prepare students for a successful business career.
