Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach
Location: Hickory, North Carolina
The assistant men's lacrosse coach reports to the head men's lacrosse coach and provides coaching expertise, leadership, management and administrative support for all aspects of a competitive NCAA program, resulting in a positive intercollegiate experience for student-athletes. The successful candidate will place the highest priority on academic integrity and student-athlete success.
Primary Duties and Tasks
- Provide leadership, organization and supervision for all practices and varsity contests in conjunction with the head coach.
- Organize and implement a successful recruiting program that attracts academically and athletically talented prospects with an unwavering commitment to retention, degree completion and academic success.
- Conduct all aspects of the program in accordance with NCAA rules, conference regulations, athletic department policies and university procedures.
- Foster an atmosphere of sportsmanship, professionalism and respect among athletics staff, coaches and student-athletes.
- Promote student-athlete safety and welfare in all aspects of the program.
- Manage team needs within the parameters of the annual budget. Review budget requests and projected fiscal needs.
- Schedule team travel, practices and contests in accordance with university policies, conference scheduling guidelines and NCAA bylaws under the direction of the head coach.
- Review student-athlete eligibility requirements to ensure full compliance with governing rules and regulations.
- Maintain positive working relationships with university staff, including Admission, Academic Affairs, Advancement and Student Affairs, as well as departmental staff to support an efficient and effective program.
- Maintain relationships with parents, alumni, friends of the program and other stakeholders to promote the athletics department.
- Attend and participate in athletics department meetings and NCAA rules education sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Demonstrated commitment to academic integrity, gender equity and student-athlete welfare, along with knowledge of NCAA and Title IX requirements.
Education, Experience, and Certifications
- Comprehensive understanding of NCAA athletics required.
- Bachelor's degree required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
- Successful completion of an NCAA compliance background check.
- Successful completion of the annual coaches' exam in accordance with NCAA guidelines.
- Successful completion of first aid, CPR and AED certification.
Physical Requirements and Work Schedule
- This position requires travel and variable work hours, including nights and weekends.
