Art Therapy Minor
Art therapy blends creative expression with psychological insight to support mental health and emotional well-being. Through a combination of art, psychology and human development courses, students learn how visual arts can be used as a powerful tool for communication, healing and personal growth. Whether you’re pursuing a career in counseling, education or the arts, this minor adds a meaningful, human-centered dimension to your studies.
Requirements
The minor in Art Therapy introduces students to the healing potential of art. In addition to coursework in Art Therapy, students take foundational courses in Psychology and studio courses in Visual Art. With this minor, students have the foundation for graduate study in Art Therapy. A minor in Art Therapy requires 18 hours consisting of the following:

Application (3 Hours)
- Students majoring in any program except Visual Art or Psychology should choose one of the following courses:
- ART 321 - Painting II
- PSY 434 - Counseling Theories
Students majoring in Visual Art must take:
- PSY 434 Counseling Theories Hours: 3 (Those enrolledin the Accelerated Masters Program may choose to take PSY 505 Counseling Theories instead.)
Students majoring in Psychology must take
