Science Communication Minor
Develop your abilities to communicate science to public audiences.
Requirements
The interdisciplinary minor in Science Communication is available to undergraduate students interested in developing their abilities in communicating about science to public audiences. It is open to students in all undergraduate majors who want to deepen and broaden their knowledge of how citizens make sense of science and technology in their everyday lives. Students take science courses, communication courses and a capstone course that engages students on advanced topics such as climate change, pandemics and environmental communication. A minor in Science Communication requires 24 hours consisting of the following:

Science Requirements (12 Hours)
Choose three courses from three different disciplines
- AST 100 - Descriptive Astronomy
- BIO 100 - Biological Concepts
- BIO 121 - Principles of Biology I
- CHE 101 - Fundamentals of General and Inorganic Chemistry
- CHE 103 - General Chemistry and Qualitative Analysis I
- and
- CHE 103L - General Chemistry and Qualitative Analysis Laboratory I
- ENV 120 - Introduction to Environmental Science and Policy
- PHY 115 - Energy, Technology and Society
- PHY 121 - General Physics I
- PHY 211 - Analytical Physics I
- Communication Courses (6 hours)

Choose 3 hours from the following choices (Special Topics courses must be approved by Science Communication minor advisor):
