Helen & Leonard Moretz Stadium Renovation

Download Brochure

Home to one of the best game-day environments in Division II football, Helen and Leonard Moretz Stadium has been part of the LR community since 1924.

In addition to hosting football and men’s and women’s lacrosse, the stadium has become a treasured part of the Lenoir-Rhyne experience as the backdrop for commencement and campus events, as well as community events like concerts, high school graduations, camps and youth sports.

Make an Online Gift

In summer 2019, we identified issues of structural integrity that needed to be addressed immediately. Rather than simply fix the structural issues, we viewed this as an opportunity to set the stage for LR athletics for the next 100 years.

Through this project, we will be able to position ourselves as among the best athletic program in Division II; be prepared for future opportunities to explore competing at the next level; have a competitive advantage in recruiting talented student-athletes; and provide the community a top-notch game-day experience.

This renovation is just one part of Lenoir-Rhyne University’s larger five-year strategic plan, Pivoting to a New Level of Excellence, to enhance our campus and athletic community,

Planned Giving Opportunities

Planned gifts are not typically an option for capital projects because the building and construction cannot wait for the gifts to be realized. For this project, LR will use an innovative approach that will allow supporters with an avenue to make a larger and more impactful gift than they ever thought possible through a planned gift. Donors who meet the criteria may designate a planned gift to this project and realize opportunities for recognition now.

Criteria

  • Irrevocable planned gifts of more than $250,000 can be applied to the Moretz Stadium renovation for donors who are 65 or older by the end of the campaign, December 31, 2024.
  • A gift that includes a planned gift component and a cash gift or five-year pledge is encouraged.
  • To be eligible for naming opportunities, a cash gift or five-year pledge equal to at least 30% of the planned gift is required.
  • Planned gifts require appropriate documentation to be counted.
  • Existing planned gifts may be designated to Moretz Stadium project with appropriate documentation.
  • All donors with documented planned gifts will become members of the Heritage Society, Lenoir-Rhyne’s planned giving society.
