Alumni Communities
Connect with fellow Bears through Lenoir-Rhyne Alumni Communities. These Facebook groups bring alumni together around shared experiences, interests and connections to student organizations, affinity groups, academic programs, colleges and schools.
Each community is managed through a partnership between the Office of Alumni Engagement and volunteer alumni who serve as Community Champions. Together, they create welcoming spaces where alumni can reconnect, exchange information and support one another.

Members are invited to share:

- Alumni news and accomplishments
- Mentorship opportunities
- University news and updates
- Information relevant to the community
- Conversations that strengthen connections among alumni
All posts and interactions must follow Office of Alumni Engagement policies and Facebook’s Community Standards. Hate speech, misinformation, unsolicited advertising and divisive political content are not permitted.

Community Champions
Community Champions are alumni volunteers who serve as moderators of their Facebook group. They help create an active, welcoming and respectful environment for community members.
Community Champions are responsible for:
- Encouraging participation and conversation
- Sharing new content at least twice each month
- Monitoring posts and member activity
- Addressing content that violates community policies
- Upholding Facebook’s Community Standards and Office of Alumni Engagement guidelines

LR Band Alumni Community
LR Band Alumni Community, a private Facebook Group, is dedicated to fostering connections among alumni from all LR instrumental ensembles (Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble, Spirit of LR Marching Band and Color Guard, Basketball Band, Woodwind Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and Jazz Band).
This space provides an opportunity for alumni to network, support one another and share expertise with current and aspiring music educators, enthusiasts, and hobbyists.

Bring Bears Together
The Office of Alumni Engagement also supports alumni who want to organize gatherings in their regions. Lenoir-Rhyne will continue offering opportunities for alumni to connect in the Charlotte and Triad areas while helping Bears create meaningful events in other communities.
A Hickory native with more than 16 years of prior service at LR, Wood brings broad experience in academic innovation, student success and regional partnerships to the university’s chief academic role.
