Academic Excellence Scholarships

Rewarding academic achievement with meaningful tuition support

Lenoir-Rhyne University is committed to making a high-quality education both accessible and affordable. Through our Academic Excellence Scholarships, we recognize and reward high-performing students with strong academic records by offering significant merit-based tuition assistance.

First-year and transfer students who meet GPA and admission requirements are automatically considered for an award. Many students are awarded at least 50% of tuition, with no student or parent loans included in the initial financial aid package. 

Additional competitive scholarships are available to undergraduate students who apply for admission by December 15 and complete the scholarship application.

The undergraduate scholarship application opens October 1.  

Eligibility

All admissible students are eligible for Academic Excellence Scholarships. Some will be considered for additional competitive scholarship opportunities if they meet the following criteria at the time of admission:

• First-Year Students
  Weighted high school GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Transfer Students
  College GPA of 3.0 or higher with a minimum of 30 earned credit hours from an accredited community college

All recipients must maintain full-time enrollment (12 or more credit hours per semester).

Renewal

Academic Excellence Scholarships are renewable for up to four years (eight semesters) at the initial award amount, provided the student remains in good academic standing. 

Exclusions

This merit-based award is available only to full-time undergraduate students who meet the eligibility criteria. It is not available to graduate students or those enrolled through LR Online programs.
