Michael Lemke

Michael Lemke is an assistant professor of education at Lenoir-Rhyne University. In addition, he serves as the program coordinator for the elementary education program. Lemke joined the LR faculty in 2016. 

Lemke taught various elementary grades for 10 years. Upon leaving the general education classroom, he served as an instructional coach for three years. During the 2009-10 academic year,  Lemke was recognized as the Newton-Conover City Schools district Teacher of the Year. He made his transition to higher education in 2013.

His broader research and teaching interests include teacher literacy education (emphasis on supporting students to conceptualize deeper text meaning and vocabulary acquisition) and instructional implementation (designing responsive, engaging and curricular supported lessons). In addition, Lemke values the school partnerships Lenoir-Rhyne has established with the community.
