“Commencement is one of the most significant traditions in the life of a university, and with this ceremony, we will create some new traditions and powerful memories for our graduates.  It will be a joy to gather as a community to celebrate the accomplishments of Lenoir-Rhyne’s graduates,” said Summer McGee, Ph.D., president of Lenoir-Rhyne University.  “I look forward to honoring the Class of 2026 not only on earning their degrees, but for entering the world ready for meaningful lives and work, joining generations of Lenoir-Rhyne alumni who lead, serve and make an impact.”

The Hickory ceremony will feature alumnus Perry Fewell ’85 as commencement speaker. A Gastonia native, Fewell played football and studied business administration at LR before building a distinguished coaching career in collegiate athletics and the NFL. His career includes a Super Bowl championship with the New York Giants and senior leadership roles across multiple NFL organizations. He currently serves as senior vice president of officiating administration and communication for the NFL.

Accessible parking and seating will be available at all three ceremonies. While tickets are not required and there is no limit on the number of guests, bags will be checked for security at each venue. Concessions will be sold at the Hickory commencement ceremony. Guests are asked to be seated 30 minutes before the ceremony begins, so processions can start promptly. Hickory commencement will feature a recessional and a post-graduation gathering in Shuford Arena.
