A student’s first residential experience plays an important role in the transition to college and sense of belonging. Eastside Commons, a new first-year residence hall, will provide modern living spaces designed to foster connection, community and student success.

Target Completion: Fall 2027
More than a traditional residence hall, Eastside Commons will bring residential life, academics, dining and recreation together in one community. The building will feature private pod-style living, common rooms, study lounges, a community kitchen and three classrooms, creating opportunities for learning and connection within the residential experience.
A new 200-seat dining hall will serve both the first-year neighborhood and the broader campus community. An outdoor athletic and social commons is planned to include beach volleyball, games, a firepit and gathering spaces.
Together, Eastside Commons and Fritz-Conrad will allow Lenoir-Rhyne to house nearly all incoming first-year students within one residential neighborhood, helping students build connections and access the resources and support that contribute to their success.
The project reflects Lenoir-Rhyne’s continued investment in the student experience and a campus prepared for future enrollment growth. Philanthropic support will complement the university’s investment, with naming opportunities available throughout Eastside Commons.
