Tuition Statements and Billing Timeline
Before each semester, you’ll receive a preliminary statement estimating your upcoming charges. This includes tuition, fees and, if applicable, housing and meal plans. If your course registration and financial aid remain the same, the balance due should closely reflect your final charges.
The balance on preliminary statements will not appear in the overview section of your self-service portal until after financial aid disburses each semester. Until then, you can only see your balance due on the preliminary statement.
Final tuition statements are issued after financial aid is disbursed. Final statements will be available in early September for fall semester and early February for spring semester.
Refer to your statement each semester for your payment due date if you are not enrolled in a payment plan.
Anticipated Financial Aid
On preliminary statements, anticipated financial aid refers to the amount of aid we expect to receive on your behalf as of the date your statement is generated. Your amount due reflects your total charges minus any anticipated financial aid.
If your anticipated aid changes and no longer covers your charges in full, the remaining balance will appear on a future statement.
If you’ve accepted a student loan but don’t see it listed as anticipated aid, you may be missing a required step before the loan can be authorized. Please check with Office of Financial Aid staff to see if any information is incomplete.
Payment Plans
Students can enroll in a monthly payment plan through the self-service portal in the fall and spring semesters. The balance is divided into four equal payments, with the first payment due shortly before the semester begins. A $15 enrollment fee applies.
Accepted Payment Methods
You may pay your tuition and fees by:
- Using a domestic debit or credit card online (2.95% convenience fee applies)
- Using an international credit card online (4.25% convenience fee applies)
- Paying online via ACH/bank account (no fee)
- Mailing or delivering a check or money order in person (no fee)

Online payments can be made by visiting the payment portal. If your student has added you as an authorized payer on their account in the self-service portal, you can log in with your account information or you can pay as a Guest using your student's 10-digital ID number (P00#######) and their last name.
Mail payments (checks, money orders, 529s and scholarship checks) - Make check payable to Lenoir-Rhyne University. Write student name/10-digit student ID number (P00#######) on check. Mail to Lenoir-Rhyne University, Office of Student Accounts, 625 7th Ave NE, LRU 7164, Hickory, NC 28601.
Using a 529 Plan
To pay with a 529 College Savings Plan, contact your plan administrator to request disbursement. You can download statements from your self-service portal if documentation is required.
Financial Aid Refunds
If your eligible financial aid exceeds your institutional charges, a refund will be issued within 14 days of the aid being posted to your account, typically to you (the student). In some cases, refunds from Parent PLUS Loans may be issued to the parent borrower.
The fastest, most convenient way to receive your refund is to sign up for eRefunds through your self-service portal.
Parent or Guardian Access to Your Account
Students can give a parent or guardian access to manage their online account by inviting them as a payer through the “My Account” section in the self-service portal.
Students can authorize Lenoir-Rhyne University staff members to release their account information by completing a FERPA Student Disclosure Form.
Managing Your Account Online
You can view your charges, make payments, sign up for eRefunds, and manage account access anytime through the Self-Service portal. Online payments can be made through the payment portal.
Authorized users can also make payments on your behalf if invited as payers.
Veteran Education Benefits
Students using Chapter 31 Veteran Readiness and Employment benefits will receive a tuition bill each semester after the drop/add period.
Veteran Student InformationRegistration Holds
All student accounts with balances of $700 or more will have a business hold on their account. For the hold to be removed to register or make schedule changes, your account balance must be paid under $700. If you have a higher balance, contact student accounts to review your options and ensure your account is in good standing.
