Inclement Weather Update
The Lenoir-Rhyne Campus has received close to a foot of snow and we are working as efficiently as possible to return to normal operations. Our Aramark dining and maintenance staff have been champions as they work overtime to assist our efforts.
We appreciate the work of our residence hall and library staff to meet our student needs as they remain on campus and prepare for exams. We are fortunate to not have lost power and thank everyone for their assistance and flexibility in working through a difficult situation. While we all would like to complete the exams and conclude the semester as soon as possible, the safety and welfare of our students, faculty and staff remain our highest priority.
We have made the decision for the Hickory and Asheville campuses to remain closed Tuesday, and essential staff expected to report. This will allow us additional time needed for clearing and salting sidewalks and streets around campus, and will also provide additional time for our faculty and commuter students to get to campus safely.
As a result, all face to face final exams for Hickory and Asheville will be shifted from Tuesday to Wednesday, December 12. We expect normal operations and campus activities on Wednesday.
Thursday activities, including our Commencement Ceremony (4 PM) and Faculty and Staff Holiday Luncheon (11:30 AM) will occur as scheduled.
We urge everyone—and particularly those who have exams scheduled during the morning hours—to use caution as you return to campus Wednesday. We appreciate your patience and your flexibility as we seek a safe end to the semester.
