Business Administration, BSBA

Available only to LR Online students, the Business Administration (BSBA) major is designed to provide students with a general business degree and/or prepare them for completion of an MBA degree. The major recognizes the value of significant life experiences of adult students; their motivation; and delicate balance of work, education, and family expectations. 

Students who successfully meet the degree requirements which includes the Lenoir-Rhyne University general education courses with an overall grade point average of 2.75 and a grade point average of 3.0 in the course work for the major and who receive letters of recommendation from major faculty upon completion of the undergraduate degree, will be accepted directly into the university's Master of Business Administration program with normal application protocols waived. Thus, LR Online students who graduate with the Business Administration major will not have to take the prerequisite standardized entrance exam or pay application fees for admission to the MBA program at Lenoir-Rhyne University. The Business Administration major earns a B.S. degree.

Biology, B.S.

The Biology major offers a comprehensive foundation in the life sciences, integrating key concepts and methodologies from biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Students gain broad exposure to the biological sciences while developing critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and laboratory skills. The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology is ideal for students planning to pursue advanced study in graduate, medical, dental, or other professional health programs. This rigorous degree includes coursework in physics and requires participation in undergraduate research, providing strong preparation for competitive postgraduate opportunities.

Honors

Students majoring in Biology judged qualified by the faculty may, upon invitation, pursue honors work in Biology. To graduate "With Honors in Biology," students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a minimum major GPA of 3.2. They must complete  and  in the junior year and   and    in the senior year with a minimum grade of "B" in each course. In addition, they must present the research at a seminar before the Biology faculty. , ,  , and  may count for  and 4 hours of  biology electives for the B.S. degree.  

Business Administration, MBA

The goal of Lenoir-Rhyne University's MBA program is to offer people who are currently in the workplace a graduate business education which will enhance and expand their career opportunities. In fulfilling this goal, the MBA program offers an education which features a managerial orientation, a focus on decision-making and not mere analysis, an emphasis on individual creative problem-solving skills, a global business perspective, and an emphasis on ethical conduct in management. The College of Business & Economics is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

MBA Competency Requirements Policy

To enroll in the MBA courses ACC 501 (Accounting Competency), BUS 511 (Finance Competency), ECO 502 (Microeconomics Competency), BUS 519 (Statistics Competency), and BUS 536 (Statistics Competency), students must demonstrate basic competency in the areas of accounting, finance, microeconomics, and statistics. 

Competency can be demonstrated through the completion of relevant coursework at an accredited institution, achieving a minimum scale score of 50 on the CLEP examination, or obtaining a passing score of at least 70% on Peregrine correspondence courses.

All prerequisite courses must be approved by the MBA director.

Students may enroll in up to 12 credit hours per semester with a max of 6 hours in a mini term; overloads may be granted by approval (min 3.7 GPA);
