ERP/SIS Implementation Business Analyst


Location: Hickory, North Carolina

Position Summary

Lenoir-Rhyne University seeks a detail-oriented and analytical business analyst to support the implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Student Information System (SIS), Ellucian Colleague SaaS. This is a full-time, temporary position with a two-year appointment aligned with the lifecycle of the implementation project.

The Business Analyst will play a critical supporting role in the ERP/SIS transition by assisting with requirements gathering, process analysis, data validation, system testing, and implementation support. This position will work closely with project leadership, Information Technology staff, functional departments, and external vendors to help ensure a successful and efficient system implementation across the university.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the ERP/SIS implementation project through analysis, documentation, and coordination activities.  
  • Assist in gathering, documenting, and validating business requirements, workflows, and system configurations  
  • Collaborate with functional departments (e.g., the Registrar’s Office, Admissions, Financial Aid, Finance, and Human Resources) to map current processes and identify improvement opportunities.  
  • Develop and maintain documentation including process maps, user stories, test cases, and training materials  
  • Support data migration efforts, including data mapping, validation, and reconciliation  
  • Write and execute SQL queries to support data analysis, reporting, and system validation.  
  • Participate in system testing phases, including unit, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT).  
  • Assist in identifying issues, tracking resolutions, and supporting troubleshooting efforts  
  • Support change management initiatives, including communications and end-user training  
  • Coordinate with IT staff, project managers, and vendors to support system configuration and implementation activities  
  • Maintain organized project documentation and contribute to overall project tracking and reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in Information Systems, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field).  
  • Two to four years of experience as a business analyst, systems analyst, data analyst, or in a similar role.  
  • Experience supporting ERP or enterprise software implementations.  
  • Strong SQL skills and ability to analyze and validate data.  
  • Basic understanding of scripting or programming concepts.  
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.  
  • Ability to work on-site at the Hickory, North Carolina, campus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education (college or university setting).
  • Familiarity with ERP/SIS platforms used in higher education (e.g., Ellucian Colleague or PowerCampus).  
  • Experience with data migration, integrations, APIs, or ETL processes.  
  • Experience with business process mapping and documentation tools.  
  • Exposure to structured project management or implementation methodologies.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a project environment.

  • Proficiency with data analysis tools and project documentation practices.
