Lenoir-Rhyne University receives grant for nursing scholarships
Lenoir-Rhyne University has received a $265,000 grant from the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation to support undergraduate nursing scholarships during the 2025–26 academic year. The grant continues the Foundation’s longstanding commitment to advancing educational opportunities for women.

This funding will directly benefit nursing students by easing financial barriers and helping them pursue a career path critical to meeting regional and national health care needs.
The grant will be distributed in two installments, with the first payment in August 2025 and the second in December.
“We are deeply grateful to the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation for this generous investment in our nursing students,” said Lenoir-Rhyne University President Summer McGee, Ph.D. “These scholarships make a real and lasting difference in the lives of our students and on the health of the communities they will go on to serve.”
The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation is dedicated to supporting the education of female students across the southeastern United States, particularly in health-related fields. In keeping with the Foundation’s wishes, recipients of this scholarship will learn about Mrs. Whitehead’s life and philanthropic legacy through video resources provided by the Foundation.
