Lenoir-Rhyne University celebrates record-breaking $16 million fundraising year


Lenoir-Rhyne University is proud to announce a highly successful fundraising year for Fiscal Year 2025, which concluded on May 31, 2025. The university secured an impressive $16 million in combined cash, new pledges, and new planned gifts, marking a significant achievement in its philanthropic endeavors.

This year's total represents a substantial increase over previous years, demonstrating growing support for Lenoir-Rhyne's mission and initiatives. In Fiscal Year 2024, the university raised $13.3 million, following $10.1 million in Fiscal Year 2023 and $8.97 million in Fiscal Year 2022.

Key highlights of the Fiscal Year 2025 fundraising success include:

  • $10.2 million in cash contributions, providing immediate resources for critical university operations and programs.
  • The Fund for Lenoir-Rhyne exceeded its goal, raising $584,945, representing 120% of its target and directly supporting student scholarships, faculty development and academic enhancements.
  • The New Life Fund also surpassed expectations, bringing in $816,032, reaching 109.5% of its goal and contributing to essential campus improvements and strategic initiatives.
  • Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary (LTSS) secured a total of $1 million, underscoring continued investment in its vital theological education and community outreach.

"We are absolutely thrilled with the incredible generosity shown by our alumni, friends, faculty and staff this past fiscal year," said Fred Whitt, Ed.D., president of Lenoir-Rhyne University. "To raise $16 million is a testament to the strong belief our community has in the transformative power of a Lenoir-Rhyne education. These funds will directly impact our students, enhance our academic programs, and strengthen our ability to serve the region."

Cat Serrin Niekro, vice president of advancement, echoed Whitt's sentiments. "This record-breaking year is a true reflection of the dedication and hard work of our entire advancement team, as well as the unwavering commitment of our donors," Niekro said. "Their investment in Lenoir-Rhyne allows us to provide unparalleled opportunities for our students and ensures our continued growth and success for generations to come. We are immensely grateful for their partnership."

The funds raised in fiscal year 2025 will play a crucial role in advancing Lenoir-Rhyne University's strategic priorities, including student success, academic innovation, and community engagement.
