Catch "Bear Fever" this Homecoming Week

While Homecoming is always an exciting weekend, in 2024, the Office of Student Life plans to extend the fun on campus with Bear Fever – a full week of Bear-themed activities, food, games and giveaways from October 20-26.

“We wanted to give students – especially student-athletes who have games during the Homecoming weekend – more chances to participate in the fun,” shared Ania Otts ’25, a sports management major who served on the Homecoming Committee and as a student manager for the football team. “The goal for each event is to show our school spirit and come together as one big family of Lenoir-Rhyne.”

Drawing inspiration from their memories of “Spirit Week” in high school, practices and traditions at other universities as well as past events here at LR, the students on the committee devised a schedule of events that includes past favorites such as axe-throwing and 360-degree photos along with a field day. One of the most anticipated highlights will be a pep rally on Thursday, featuring The Spirit of LR, LR Spirit Team, and LR Football Team, along with a game show including a Big Spin Wheel, Minute to Win It, and Plinko.

In addition to the announcement of Homecoming Royalty at the game on Saturday, students will have the chance to enter the Bear Time Raffle for a chance to win one of two $500 prizes during the fourth quarter.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing how everything comes together because we’ve included something for everyone,” said Otts. “I’m excited to see all of us take some time to relax, have fun and make some memories this week.”
