LR to host Stroll to the Polls October 18

The Office of Student Affairs at Lenoir-Rhyne University, in partnership with the League of Women Voters of Catawba County, will host “Stroll to the Polls” on Friday, October 18, starting at 1:00 p.m. on Shaw Plaza on the Lenoir-Rhyne campus. Participants will hear remarks from campus leaders and city of Hickory Mayor Hank Guess before walking one mile to Highland Recreation Center to cast ballots in early voting. The university will provide return transportation.

Stroll to the Polls was founded in 2018 to encourage voter registration and participation around the United States, with a special focus on encouraging young voters to get involved.

“This event is part of a national movement. Member fraternities and sororities of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) have organized Stroll to the Polls events around the country, so we are excited and proud to have our NPHC members sponsor this event at LR,” said Walter Kennedy, coordinator for student engagement.

Any voter registered in Catawba County is eligible to cast their ballot during this event. Catawba County residents not yet registered to vote may be eligible for same-day registration. Voters and residents registered in other counties are invited to attend the event, but they cannot cast a ballot outside their county of registration. For additional information about early voting visit the North Carolina State Board of Elections.
