Lenoir-Rhyne University sets records for applications and campus engagement

Lenoir-Rhyne University announced today that it has received more than 8,300 applications for Fall 2026 admission, the largest number in the university’s history and more applications than the last two years combined. This milestone represents a significant increase in interest from prospective students and families nationwide and marks a new chapter of momentum for the university.

In addition to record-breaking applications, campus visits increased by 125% over the previous year, reflecting heightened demand for in-person engagement and strong enthusiasm for the Lenoir-Rhyne experience. Prospective students are visiting from across the nation, underscoring the university’s growing regional and national profile. Notably, out of state applications are up over 400% this year with the most significant growth in Georgia, Florida and Virginia.

“These results affirm that students and families are responding to Lenoir-Rhyne’s clear commitment to academic excellence, purpose-driven education and affordability,” said Summer McGee, Ph.D., president of Lenoir-Rhyne University. “At a time when families are asking tough questions about the value of higher education, Lenoir-Rhyne is answering with clarity, confidence and action.”

A major driver of this surge in interest is the university’s newly launched Tuition-Free Guarantee, which provides tuition-free education for eligible North Carolina and South Carolina students from families earning $100,000 or less. The program removes financial barriers while reinforcing the university’s longstanding mission to provide access to a high-quality, private education rooted in faith, service and leadership.

“Affordability and outcomes matter more than ever,” McGee added. “The Lenoir-Rhyne Tuition-Free Guarantee is not only a promise to families — it is a statement of who we are as an institution and what we believe students deserve: opportunity without compromise.”

“The dramatic increase in applications and visits tells us that students are not just applying — they are imagining themselves here,” said Leah Beth Hubbard, DSL, associate vice president for admission. “Families recognize that Lenoir-Rhyne offers both academic rigor and a deeply personal educational experience.”

Prospective students and families are invited to experience Lenoir-Rhyne firsthand through campus visits offered throughout the week and upcoming Accepted Student Days on February 7, February 28 and March 21.

More information about Lenoir-Rhyne undergraduate admission and the Tuition-Free Guarantee is available on the university website.
