Safety & Emergency Preparedness

Lenoir-Rhyne University has developed emergency and crisis communication plans to respond to and disseminate information during an emergency or when events impact normal campus operations.

The campus community should closely monitor and follow information provided through official university communication channels, including RAVE Alerts, campus email, notifications posted to the university website and LR's main institutional social media accounts.

Coronavirus Updates

The safety of our students, faculty and staff is our top priority, and we continue to monitor the coronavirus (Covid-19). The university is taking precautions and planning for the effects should the virus spread to the LR community. We are working with local agencies, including the Catawba County Public Health and Emergency Services, to discuss necessary steps in the case of a local outbreak. In addition, a task force has been formed to prepare a comprehensive plan to ensure continuity of university operations in the event of an outbreak or any other unexpected events that could create a disruption of normal operations. Inclement Weather Policy & Notifications

Lenoir-Rhyne University may change its operating status during and surrounding periods of inclement weather. At such times, the university has a prescribed method for evaluation and communication of these changes to university staff, faculty, students, and the public.

The decision to cancel classes, close the university, cancel or postpone university-sponsored programs or activities is based on the overall concern for the safety of the university community and continuity of services and support for residential students. Severe Weather & Disaster Preparedness

Natural disasters and weather emergencies can occur at any time. Stay informed and prepared should a severe weather event or disaster occur on or near LR's Hickory, Asheville, or Columbia campuses. Learn more about emergency preparedness.
