The Lenoir-Rhyne Promise (LR Promise) is a Lenoir-Rhyne University program focused on making a college degree more affordable, while recognizing the hard work of high-performing students.
*The LR Promise rewards any North Carolina resident who is a transfer undergraduate student with a 3.5 GPA and more than 30 earned credit hours from an accredited North Carolina community college with a financial aid package worth at least 50 percent off the cost of tuition. Federal, state and institutional financial aid will be combined to meet the value of half tuition, but no student or parent loan packages are part of the LR Promise.
First-year undergraduate students with a 3.5 or higher high school GPA also qualify for LR Promise.
*All criteria must be met at time of admittance to qualify for the LR Promise.
LR strives to offer exceptional academic programs to meet the evolving needs of our students. More than 50 undergraduate majors and 30 graduate programs are available for students. Classes are taught by highly qualified and experienced faculty who are passionate about teaching. Class sizes are small, with a student to faculty ratio of 13:1, to allow for individualized attention. The challenging academic coursework is supported by internships, mentor opportunities, undergraduate research, work study and study abroad programs designed to enhance the learning experience.
At LR, we strive to challenge you with programs and opportunities that extend well beyond the classroom. Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Bridges to Dreams program is designed to assist current LR undergraduate students toward completion of a graduate degree. Through dual enrollment, qualified LR undergraduates may begin graduate courses while still completing an undergraduate degree.
Current LR students may enroll in up to 12 credit hours of graduate-level coursework provided they meet the academic criteria for admission and are accepted into the program. These graduate courses may be used to meet both undergraduate and graduate degree.
As a transfer student, the counselors and professors have worked with me to decide what I wanted to major in and draw out a detailed map to help me reach that goal of getting a bachelor’s degree.
