Trey Grissom

  • Ph.D., Cell & Molecular Biology, University of North Carolina, Charlotte
  • B.A., Biology, Western Carolina University

Trey Grissom joined the Lenoir-Rhyne faculty in 2025 as a teaching assistant professor. A trained cell biologist, his research has focused on how cells move and organize materials internally, particularly through endocytosis. Using Saccharomyces cerevisiae (brewer’s yeast) as a model organism, he investigated the role of SNARE proteins in the development of the eukaryotic endomembrane system.

Grissom teaches introductory biology labs and serves as biology laboratory director. His research interests include protein trafficking, CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, endomembrane system evolution, yeast genetics and applications of fluorescence microscopy.
