Stephanie Stadden

Stephanie Stadden began working at Lenoir-Rhyne in 2007. She regularly teaches undergraduate and graduate courses addressing sport and exercise psychology. Prior to coming to Lenoir-Rhyne, Stadden worked as an assistant athletic trainer and instructor at NCAA Division III and NAIA institutions. Her professional experience includes providing athletic training outreach services to high schools and working as a physical therapy aide in an outpatient physical therapy setting.

Stadden has presented original research at regional and national professional conferences. Her scholarly work examines the psychology of injury, psychological skills associated with peak performance, and academic and athletic identity and motivation among college athletes. She also consults with student-athletes on mental performance in sport and the psychological aspects of returning to play following injury.

In recognition of her service and commitment, Stadden was awarded the Roediger Distinguished Service Professorship in 2020, honoring distinguished service to the university, profession and community. In 2023, she received the Bears Choice Award Supporting Faculty of the Year, as voted by the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, for her outstanding support of student-athletes.
