Randy Isenhour


Randy Isenhour serves as the director of public safety at Lenoir-Rhyne, bringing nearly three decades of law enforcement experience to the role. Before joining LR, he spent more than 27 years with the Hickory Police Department, where he held a range of responsibilities including patrol, bike patrol, narcotics and vice, crime prevention, and supervisory leadership as a sergeant. His final post with the department was sergeant over community services, where he oversaw school resource officers, special events coordination and public safety education for local businesses, churches and schools.

Isenhour is passionate about creating a safe and welcoming environment for all members of the campus community. His extensive background includes service as a team leader and sniper on the special operations team (SWAT), commander of the Hickory Police Department’s honor guard, and acting lieutenant/PACT commander on several occasions. He is also a certified law enforcement instructor, having led numerous training sessions in active shooter response, firearms, physical fitness, Taser deployment, and mobile field force/riot control throughout his law enforcement career.

Isenhour is currently a sworn reserve police officer with the Hickory Police Department, where he continues to train with and instruct current and prospective law enforcement officers.

Known for his proactive leadership and collaborative spirit, Isenhour believes in building strong relationships across campus to promote safety preparedness and community engagement.
