Janice McKeel is an assistant professor and teaches in the School of Nursing in both the clinical and classroom setting.  She also currently serves as the Interim DNP Director.

McKeel joined the faculty in 2016. As an assistant professor of nursing, she is responsible for teaching various courses at the undergraduate level. Her specialty areas in nursing are leadership and emergency nursing. In addition, her research involves enhanced education for care coordination for vulnerable populations and the development of cultural competence in undergraduate nursing students. She also supervises nursing students during a clinical experience at the Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry, a local nonprofit offering crisis services, including healthcare and pharmacy, to Catawba County residents.  

Before teaching, McKeel practiced in senior nursing leadership roles in Maryland and North Carolina for many years.
