Dale Bailey is a professor of English at Lenoir-Rhyne University. His two most recent books, The End of the End of Everything: Stories and The Subterranean Season: A Novel, were both published in 2015.

The End of the End of Everything: Stories was selected as a finalist for the Shirley Jackson Award, which honors outstanding achievement in the literature of psychological suspense, horror and the dark fantastic. The title story of the book was awarded the Shirley Jackson Award.

In 2016, Bailey received the Lenoir-Rhyne Faculty Scholar Award, which is presented to the faculty member who has made the greatest contribution to his/her discipline during the academic year.
