Carmen Davis
Dr. Carmen Davis, Ph.D., LCMHCS, has spent more than 26 years serving individuals, families, students and communities as a clinical mental health counselor, clinical supervisor and professor. Throughout her career, she has worked with adults, children and families across a variety of settings, including domestic violence services, community mental health, intensive in-home therapeutic services, foster care and social services, the U.S. Department of Defense and private practice.
In addition to her clinical work, Davis provides clinical supervision to counseling interns and associate-licensed counselors working toward full clinical licensure. She uses a developmental and culturally responsive approach to supervision, providing guidance and support that empowers emerging counselors to strengthen their clinical competence, professional identity and confidence.
Davis is also passionate about educating and mentoring the next generation of professional helpers. She has taught master’s-level counseling courses at Capella University and Liberty University and teaches human development and women’s studies courses at California State University, East Bay. In fall 2026, she joined Lenoir-Rhyne University as a visiting professor. Across her academic roles, Davis is committed to creating supportive learning environments that connect theory, ethical practice, cultural responsiveness and professional development.
Davis has also demonstrated a longstanding commitment to professional leadership and advocacy within the counseling profession. From 2021 to 2023, she served in successive leadership roles as president-elect, president and immediate past president of the Licensed Clinical Counselors of North Carolina (LCCNC).
Her connection to the military community is both professional and personal. Davis is married to Ali, a retired major in the U.S. Army, and her years as a military spouse have contributed to her deep appreciation for the experiences and needs of service members, veterans and military-connected families.
Davis and her husband are the proud parents of three children: AJ, Jordan and Simone. Whether through counseling, supervision, teaching or professional service, she remains committed to empowering others, strengthening the counseling profession and preparing future helping professionals to serve their communities with competence, compassion and cultural humility.
