Bishop of NC Synod leads in blessing and dedication of LRU’s Grace Chapel

On Friday, November 21, Rev. Dr. Leonard Bolick, bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, North Carolina Synod, led the blessing and dedication of Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Grace Chapel. The service recognized every donor that helped turn the dream of a university chapel into a reality.

Bishop Bolick was joined by Dean of Campus Ministry and University Pastor, the Rev. Dr. Andrew F. Weisner, as they conducted the service of dedication and blessed each item that had been donated to the Chapel.

LRU professor and alumnus named in Top 10 Hickory Young Professionals

Dr. Ralph Griffith, Lenoir-Rhyne University Professor and Ryan McCreary, LRU graduate and local principal were recently selected as two of the Top 10 Hickory Young Professionals under 40 years of age. The Hickory Young Professionals organization, in partnership with the Catawba Chamber of Commerce, solicits nominations annually for this honor which recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of local professionals.

LRU entrepreneur receives award in Edison Project Business Plan Competition

Lenoir-Rhyne University alumna, Bridgette Cooke was among the top winners of the Edison Project Business Plan Competition, held last Monday evening. Cooke took home third place and a $3,000 cash award to jumpstart her BioRid business plan. Cooke is an incubatee of LR’s Center for Commercial and Social Entrepreneurship (CCSE), which strives to offer premier entrepreneurial education and serve as a resource for individuals and organizations in all phases of business development.
