Administrative Assistant

The administrative assistant provides administrative support for the dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, supports the college’s daily operations, and serves as the college’s primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, provides administrative support to the academic programs within the college (biology, chemistry, computer sciences, mathematics, physics, and sustainability studies) and their public-facing activities. Experience with higher education operations and event planning strongly preferred.

Essential Accountabilities

  • Provides administrative support for the college dean with responsibility for calendar, travel arrangements, project activities, information retrieval and reporting
  • Manages overall office administration for the college
  • Plans, coordinates and executes logistics for college events and projects
  • Serves as primary liaison between the college and other university departments and external stakeholders
  • Promotes a professional and inclusive work environment
  • Oversees facility operations
  • Work with Academic Affairs as requested
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the college dean

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma; bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
  • A minimum of three years’ experience directly related to the skills, duties and responsibilities listed is preferred
  • Experience in a higher education setting is preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment
  • Position is physically comfortable; individual has discretion about sitting walking, standing, etc.
  • Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks

Work Schedule

  • Standard office hours Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. with some flexibility possible
  • Schedule is subject to change based on university need, scheduled courses, and university growth
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand
