Lohr Learning Commons
The Lohr Learning Commons, located on the 2nd floor of the Carl A. Rudisill Library, draws together a suite of academic services, learning and computer labs, co-curricular programs, and enrichment opportunities that support and enhance the educational pursuits of Lenoir-Rhyne students.
The Learning Commons is a favorite spot for many students. The area includes a large room with movable tables and chairs, and accommodates individuals, small groups and large gatherings. Vending and comfortable study nooks that overlook some of the most beautiful scenery on campus are also available.

Located in LIB201, the Writing Center provides assistance for students at any point in the writing process, including:
- understanding an assignment
- choosing a topic and generating ideas
- developing and organizing ideas
- checking documentation style
- editing sentences
Writing Center appointments can be made by calling the Center at 828.328.7436 during open hours or by emailing the Writing Center (48 hours’ advance notice needed for email scheduling). Walk-ins are welcome if the tutor is available.

The Learning Commons Mathematics Tutoring Lab is for students in need of extra help in math. Staffed with student and graduate tutors who can help with first and second year math courses as well as many upper division classes, the Mathematics Tutoring Lab also contains reference materials, solutions manuals, and math software in the adjoining CS tutoring lab.
Public speaking is frequently cited as a biggest fear for many people. Presenting to an audience can be intimidating at any experience level, but it doesn’t have to be. The Speech Lab offers a wide range of services to assist you in your speech needs. The lab offers aid to both students and faculty to help improve upon assignments, speeches, and class or job presentations. The Speech Lab can help you refine your arguments, organize your thoughts, and improve your delivery.

The Alex Lee Career and Professional Development Center (CPDC) helps students explore academic majors and career options, find internships and part-time work, and prepare for life after graduation. The CPDC also offers confidential counseling and coaching for students and alumni, and workshops for classes or groups on career assessments, career discernment, job search tips, internship searching, interview preparation, résumé writing assistance and more.
The Office for International Education (OIE) assists students in their study abroad endeavors through LRU's many exchange programs. OIE also offers information on summer study programs, internships, and international service opportunities. LRU also offers a Study Away program, allowing LRU students to study away from the LR campus at another location in the United States.
The University encourages and recognizes students who become involved in volunteerism and service to the community outside of Lenoir-Rhyne University.
