FROM THE PRESIDENT

The cover story for this issue is about families who have sent generations of students to Lenoir-Rhyne. It is not uncommon for me to hear stories like this — families who can count two, three and even four generations of fathers, daughters, mothers and sons who are LR Bears.

These strong bonds and affinity are a testament to the LR experience. Students come here in pursuit of a degree and leave with a love for everything that LR stands for. The sense of community, the close faculty-student relationships, the focus on service and vocation, and the challenge of a liberal arts education.

Knowing who we are as a campus community and what we stand for are critical as we chart our path. Over the next few months, we are embarking on two exciting projects — a strategic plan and a branding initiative — that will help us crystalize where we are going and ensure that we are true to our mission, vision, and values.

We are in the early stages of both projects, and I look forward to sharing our progress over the next few months, both in the pages of Profile, on LR.edu, and in person. As always, thank you for your support of Lenoir-Rhyne. I remain incredibly grateful to be a part of this community.
