SHANNAN LOWMAN ’16 welcomed a baby girl named Emery on June 19, 2017. She was born weighing eight pounds and seven ounces.
MEREDITH DEATON LIU ’044 welcomed baby Hao-Zhu Liu on Sept. 20, 2017, weighing seven pounds and 11 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.
KRIS LITMAN-KOON ’03, LTSS ’11 AND GINGER LITMAN-KOON LTSS ’12 were called to serve as pastors at All Saints Lutheran Church in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, where they began in October 2017. In November 2016, Kris and Ginger welcomed twin daughters, Stella and Virginia.

The Bears finished 3-7 overall and 2-5 in South Atlantic Conference (SAC) play this year after once again fielding a young squad. Three of LR’s losses were by eight points or less.

The LR men’s and women’s golf teams started the fall season strong. The men’s team finished third at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate in Morganton, North Carolina. The women’s team won the Patsy Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury, North Carolina, and tied for second at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate in Sunset Beach, North Carolina.

The LR women’s cross country team, under first-year mentor Danny Williamson, finished sixth overall at the SAC Championship.

The LR women’s soccer team had another strong season, despite its fifth-place finish in the league standings. LR put together its 10th consecutive winning season, finishing with a record of 11-5-2 overall and a 6-3-1 mark in SAC. Four Bears earned 2017 All-SAC honors.

The LR men’s soccer team had another outstanding season, finishing 10-4-3 on the year and 6-2-2 in SAC while tying for second overall in the league standings. The Bears also earned a berth to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament for the second straight season.
