Nursing students and faculty from Lenoir-Rhyne University's School of Nursing were honored Wednesday, April 25, during a "Blessing of the Hands" dedication service in Grace Chapel.

The event was held in recognition of National Nurses Week, which will take place May 6 through May 12. The Reverend Andrew Weisner, Campus Pastor, presided over the service and organ music was provided by Jenna Waters, LR Sacred Music Department. During the service, The Right Reverend Matthew Riegel, Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, West Virginia-Western Maryland Synod and Pastor Weisner blessed the hands of each nursing student and faculty member individually as a hymn was sung by LR nursing student, Ugonna Ukwu.

LR has longstanding success in the field of health sciences and offers nursing programs at the baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate levels. On May 11, 45 students in the undergraduate nursing program will receive diplomas.
