Lenoir-Rhyne University's Physician Assistant Studies program invites the public to take part in various events planned in conjunction with National Physician Assistant Week, Oct. 6-12. All events are free and no registration is required.

On Monday, Oct. 8, a brunch will be held in the Wayne B. Powell Health Sciences Complex, where the PA program is housed, located at 844 Highland Ave. SE across from Hollar Mill. The brunch will be hosted by students from the PA Class of 2020, and a prayer will be held prior by University Pastor, the Reverend Andrew Weisner.

Prospective students are invited to attend a PA Open House Health Fair event Friday, Oct. 12, from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the Health Sciences Complex. Participants can take a tour of the state-of-the-art facility and meet with current students and faculty members to learn more about the PA program.

Throughout the week, PA students will have an information table set up in the University's Cromer Center, providing informative materials from the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), as well as info on breast cancer awareness, and prevention methods for the top health concerns locally. Canned food items will be collected throughout the week which will be delivered locally to students in need, charities, homeless shelters, and senior living facilities. Collection boxes will be available at the Health Sciences Complex, Isenhour Hall, Morgan Hall, Fritz-Conrad, the Living Learning Center, McCrorie Center, and the Cromer Center.
