Lenoir-Rhyne Equity & Diversity Institute

Strategies for Equitable Leadership, Education and Business Practices

Student in classroom

Lenoir-Rhyne University Equity and Diversity Institute (LREDI) is designed to support, inspire, and equip executives, non-profit leaders, educators, students, social activists and other community members who intend to spark change and cultivate better communities through their professional careers.

The curriculum is designed to activate equity advocates by teaching equitable strategies and practices that can be applied to the work they are doing in education, technology, and business on a daily basis.

Program Goals

LREDI seeks to close gaps in social equity, entrepreneurship, and land ownership through learning opportunities that lead to results. LREDI is a part of Lenoir-Rhyne University’s mission to build a sense of community and promote responsible leadership for service in the world.

Vision & Values

LREDI’s coordinators and faculty envision a community that is educated, challenged and inspired to non-violently disrupt systems that create and support complicated complex social issues. This vision is part and parcel of the university’s vision of developing lifelong learners and positioning people for success in their professional, personal and spiritual lives while providing caring within the community.

LREDI is designed as an example of how the university values community, and has a deep respect for the people who live, work, learn and play with us. LREDI is defined by the university’s core values of excellence, integrity, care and curiosity.

Program Outcomes

LREDI learning opportunities can be taken as stand-alone courses to enhance one’s professional profile, or taken as a suite to yield an Equitable Leadership Certificate. All course materials are distributed during class or available online via our online learning environment. These materials are included in the price of tuition.

Participants will be able to:
  • Engage professionals, community members, employers, students and the general public in conversations about culture, equity and inclusion in their respective industries.
  • Create and lead social change efforts that shift culture, advance equity and foster inclusivity through their current positions.
