Lenoir-Rhyne University invites the public to a Health Sciences Showcase open house on Thursday, February 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will be held at LRU's Asheville Center located at 36 Montford Ave.
The open house will provide information on LRU's health sciences graduate programs, including a Master of Science in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Nursing, Occupational Therapy (OT), Physician Assistant Studies (PA); and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration, Master of Public Health, Dietetic Internship, and Family Nurse Practitioner/Doctor of Nursing Practice (FNP/DNP) program which will begin its first cohort this fall. The Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing program (RN to BSN), an adult learner program, will also be highlighted.
Breakout sessions will be held providing attendees an opportunity to meet with faculty from individual programs. Admission representatives will also be present to answer any questions a prospective student may have regarding the enrollment process. Refreshments will be served during a meet-and-greet at the beginning of the event.
LRU's College of Health Sciences provides advanced, graduate-level training for students interested in becoming medical and healthcare professionals. A state-of-the-art Health Sciences Complex opened on the Hickory campus in January of 2016, welcoming the inaugural class of PA students. The OT program was expanded to the LRU's Columbia Center during the fall of 2016, and is housed in a new 24,000 square foot building which opened last fall.
LRU's Center for Graduate Studies of Asheville was launched in 2012 to expand the University's mission and serve the specific needs of Western North Carolina and beyond. A variety of graduate degrees are offered through the Center, including fully online program options. LRU's Asheville campus is housed on the second floor of the Asheville Visitors Center.
