Jake Snyder is looking forward to pursuing a career developing computer software. He feels confident that his education at LRU has prepared him to meet that goal.
“I feel I have been challenged academically as well as personally,” said Jake. “Learning from exceptional professors who are knowledgeable in the field - and who make the time to work with students one-on-one - has made all the difference.”
Jake graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and minor in Mathematics. He worked hard to achieve academic excellence and, for his efforts, received two scholarships from the Duke Energy Foundation.
“I am beyond appreciative to Duke Energy for their generosity,” Jake added. “The admissions staff at LRU has done a great job of providing financial aid and scholarship opportunities and helping to make my education affordable.”
The Duke Energy Foundation contributed $80,500 in scholarship aid this year through the Independent College Fund of NC, a division of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU). Duke Energy scholarships are awarded to students studying math or science.
In addition to his studies, Jake has enjoyed campus life at LRU. He has served as a leader for Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU) and as treasurer of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). In his spare time, the High Point native enjoys singing and playing the guitar, woodcarving, and critiquing movies with his wife, Jesse.
