LRU Nursing Program receives $153,000 from Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation, Inc. for Student Scholarships

Lenoir-Rhyne University was recently awarded a grant of $153,000 for nursing scholarships from the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation, Inc. Given to select universities across the southeast, this source of funding is a critical answer to many nursing students who have need for scholarship assisted enrollment.

“It is remarkable that during challenging economic conditions, Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation, Inc. has increased their support of our nursing student scholarships,” said Dr. Kerry Thompson, school of nursing chair. “We are extremely grateful and honored to enjoy such a wonderful partnership that makes it possible for deserving students to earn their nursing degree.”

Lenoir-Rhyne Football Inks 20 on 2016 National Signing Day - Group includes 10 from the state of North Carolina

 

The Lenoir-Rhyne University Football Team has announced the first signees for the 2016 season.

Lenoir-Rhyne went in-state this year with North Carolina leading the way with 10 but the Bears also picked up recruits from Florida (three), Georgia and Ohio (two each), South Carolina and New Jersey (one each).

The Bears went 5-5 last year and led NCAA Division II in rushing offense for the third straight season, averaging 384.7 yards per game.

Lenoir-Rhyne is under the direction of first-year mentor Mike Kellar.  The Bears’ annual spring game is scheduled for Wednesday, March 9, at 6:00 p.m., at Moretz Stadium.
