LRU Playmakers to hold auditions for fall productions

Lenoir-Rhyne Playmakers will hold open auditions for their upcoming main stage productions of Circle Mirror Transformation by Annie Baker and Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare. Auditions are scheduled for Sunday, August 30 from 2 to 5 p.m. and Monday, August 31 from 6 to 10 p.m. in P.E. Monroe Auditorium. Auditions are open to members of the LRU campus as well as the greater Hickory community.

Audition format will be “cold readings” from the scripts; actors will read and perform scenes and monologues from the two plays.

LR student recipient of leadership award and scholarships

Brooke Heller, rising senior and president of the Kappa Delta sorority at Lenoir-Rhyne University was awarded the Corre Anding Stegall Leadership Award. She was presented with the award as part of Kappa Delta's 61st Biennial National Convention, held in Orlando, FL this summer. Heller was nominated for the prestigious award by a leadership development consultant of the National Kappa Delta Headquarters who visited the Gamma Chi Chapter during the 2014-2015 academic year.

The award included a $3,000 scholarship. Additionally, Heller applied for and received a Founders Scholarship in the amount of $4,000 sponsored by the Kappa Delta Foundation. She was one of only 50 recipients in the United States to have received the scholarship.

Freshmen eager to start new chapter at LRU - Move-in day draws hundreds to campus

Lenoir-Rhyne University welcomed new and returning students to campus today as part of its fall semester move-in day (Friday, August 21). A record number of over 460 freshmen, joined by family and friends, converged on the campus – their arms filled with boxes, bedding, appliances, and other supplies to ready the rooms they’ll reside in for the 2015-16 academic year.
