The Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary (LTSS) of Lenoir-Rhyne University has scheduled a memorial service to honor and remember the nine victims who lost their lives in the senseless tragedy in Charleston less than six month ago. The service is scheduled for Saturday, December 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel at the LTSS in Columbia, SC. A free community dinner will be offered prior to the service at 6 p.m. in the basement of the chapel. The service and dinner are free and open to the public.
It was June 17 that a South Carolina man, raised Lutheran, entered Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston and murdered nine people during a Bible study. Two of the victims, the Rev. Clementa Pinkney (also a State Senator) and Rev. Dr. Daniel Simmons, Sr., were graduates of the LTSS.
