Community prayer service for Charleston victims to be held at LRU's Grace Chapel

A community prayer service will be held at Lenoir-Rhyne University to honor and remember the victims of the tragedy in Charleston. The service is scheduled for Wednesday evening – June 24 at 6:30 p.m. in Grace Chapel. The Reverend Kim Moss of Mt. Pisgah AME Church in Hickory will lead the service. Rev. Moss will be joined at the service by other area clergy members who will offer prayers for the victims, their families and friends and all those whose hearts are heavy.

LTSS/LRU mourns the loss of two alumni in Charleston tragedy

The communities of Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary (LTSS) and Lenoir-Rhyne University (LRU) grieve the loss of nine brothers and sisters in Christ whose lives were taken late Wednesday night at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, SC.  LTSS and LRU extend their prayers and deepest condolences to the people of Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, The Seventh Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, the city of Charleston, and all who grieve.

It is with sadness and heavy hearts that LTSS/LRU learns that among the victims are two fine alumni, The Rev. Clementa C. Pinckney and The Rev. Dr. Daniel L. Simmons, Sr.
